Jacob Dahl á Gørðunum keypmaður á Gørðunum í Vági, sum 8. juni í 1860, 23 ára gamal, fekk handilsloyvið og fór at handla fyri Thomsen á Tvøroyri. Sama árið bygdi Jacob handil og sethús á Gørðunum í Vági. Seinni stovnaði hann egið handilsvirkið, sum vaks í stórum frá 1890 og frameftir. Fyritøkan J. Dahl á Gørðunum fevndi tá um bæði handlar, reiðaravirksemi og fiskaframleiðslu.
